Iron Shark

Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier Galveston, USA

Beware of the shark! In 2012 Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier will open its doors to visitors in Galveston, Texas. Naturally a ride by Gerstlauer musn’t be missed at the pier. ‘Iron Shark’ is the name of the newest Euro-Fighter which will offer an exciting experience to riders.

From a distance ‘Iron Shark’ will catch visitors’ eyes with its bright blue vertical lift. When the car reaches the highest point at 98 ft eight passengers will enjoy a stunning view over the pier and the open sea. The beautiful view will last for only a few seconds though. The car tilts and plummets beyond vertical just to speed straight up to the sky again a moment later. Rushing through a combination of an Immelman and a diving loop ‘Iron Shark’ turns riders upside down twice. The following airtime hop guarantees airtime for everyone. Before the car is slowed down by failsafe magnetic brakes the shark is topped off by a top hat and a vertical loop.

For the first time, this Euro-Fighter features eight-seater-cars with T-lap bars instead of over the shoulder restraints. That way, riders will experience far more freedom of movement. Another specific feature of the coaster is the structure based partly on a base frame and partly on a concrete foundation.

The special location – directly over the sea, and a compact layout including ‘near miss elements’ turn this Euro-Fighter by Gerstlauer Amusement Rides into an unique rollercoaster experience. ‘Iron Shark’ debuts this year at Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier!
